Pros
- Has a wide range of services
- All home inspections include thermal imaging
- Offers aging-in-place inspection
- Provides after-inspection support
Cons
- Closed on Sundays
Avelar Home Inspection appeared on our radar because of their expertise—they’ve been referred to us through word-of-mouth!
Upon checking them out, we were impressed to find that they have over ten years of experience. This is a plus in our books because it means they have a wealth of knowledge of the ins and outs of the business.
We also found that they also offer a wide range of services, which is nice because you can rely on just one provider. They serve both home buyers and sellers and check new and old homes.
So, here’s what they offer: pre-sale inspection, pre-purchase inspection, thermal consultation, and multi-unit inspection. It’s also nice they offer Tarion inspections, which is handy in helping you get the builder’s warranty you’re entitled to.
They even have an aging-in-place inspection, which is specifically for senior citizens. We think this is a very useful feature because you can be sure that the home your parents or grandparents will live in is safe and up to code.
Plus, all home inspections include thermal imaging, which is awesome since you don’t need to pay for this as an add-on. Another service that’s included for all clients is their after-inspection support, which is incredible because it lets you address possible issues.
Overall, they’re a great choice—just try to get a Saturday booking early on if you prefer a weekend since they’re not open on Sundays.

Pros
- All inspectors are Certified Master Inspectors
- Provides aerial inspection
- Has competitive prices
- Three Best Rated winner
Cons
- Unavailable on Sundays
We’re impressed by NCR Home Inspections because they have a highly experienced team. In fact, all their inspectors are Certified Master Inspectors, which speaks volumes about their training, knowledge, and experience.
Notably, they were among the Top Three Home Inspectors in Ottawa by Three Best Rated. We like how this shows the many positive assessments they’ve received from their clients, which is a nice indication of their customer service.
We also like how their services are extensive, including new home inspection, infrared thermographic inspection, aerial inspection, and aging-in-place inspection.
The last service is useful, in particular, because it will keep your home safe, especially if you’re a senior citizen.
Another highlight is their aerial inspection, which is done using drones. This lets them see the hard-to-reach areas of your home, like a chimney or the really sloped roofs of two or three-storey homes.
Their rates are also really fair! Clients we spoke with loved the prices because the overall service was very thorough and professional—and they liked that they got one of the most competitive rates in town.
It’s just a bummer that they’re closed on Sundays, which only leaves Saturdays for you if you’re aiming to get a job done on a weekend.

Pros
- Caters to residential and commercial clients
- Has several locations in Ottawa
- Provides “Monster-free Guarantee” for kids
- Provides a lot of services
Cons
- Not all are available on weekends
- Service quality will depend on the branch
The thing about A Buyer’s Choice is they’re a very accessible home inspection service, given that they have several locations in Ottawa. I mean, they’re a franchise company, so that means they have many branches across Canada.
However, we must note that different branches will have different hours. Not all are available on weekends, unfortunately.
As for their services, they look for issues in single-family homes, condominiums, and commercial properties. This impressed us because it makes them available to many homeowners, sellers, and buyers.
Furthermore, their services are also quite extensive, which is awesome. These include pre-sale inspection, seasonal maintenance inspection, new home warranty inspection, radon presence survey, and advisory services.
During our surveys, we learned that their clients were very happy with their reports. These home inspectors are well-known for providing easy-to-understand and detailed paperwork, which is handy.
A cute feature is their Monster-free Guarantee, which is basically for kids who are scared they may be creatures hiding in the house. It’s also nice that this is free and includes a special certificate to make it “official” for the kids.
A minor issue, though, is that different branches will have varying quality of service. But we’ve learned that they were very thorough and easy to talk with, so that makes them a good option.

Pros
- Open daily
- Available by phone until late at night
- Provides drone inspection
- Pursues further education
Cons
- No radon testing included
Accurate Building Inspection has been around for 28 years, which is an indication of their knowledge. Their track record impressed us too, as they’ve done over 12,000 inspections since they opened!
Hiring these guys means you get a Certified Master Inspector, so you’ll have someone with a wealth of knowledge. They’re also Infrared Certified, which means you’re sure they can operate an infrared camera effectively.
It’s even more awesome they’re always on the hunt for learning. Every year, they finish accredited continuing courses, which is awesome to hear.
Furthermore, they have many offerings, which kind of make them a full service—except they don’t have radon testing. But they offer full home inspection, annual home maintenance inspection, infrared inspection, drone inspection, and WETT inspection.
The drone inspection is worth highlighting because they use state-of-the-art technology to access the most difficult areas, like roofs. Because of this, these guys can uncover problems that would otherwise go unnoticed.
We think it’s also awesome they’re available every day and they’re even available by phone until eleven at night. Their hours are super handy if you’re usually busy on weekdays.
Since they’re known to be punctual, good communicators, and deliver reports pretty quickly, we think Accurate Building Inspection is a solid choice overall.

Pros
- Offers a wide variety of services
- Uses state-of-the-art equipment
- Open daily
- Has fair pricing
Cons
- Can improve after-inspection support
AmeriSpec Inspection Services is a complete one-stop destination. It feels like they almost offer everything you may need if you’re buying or selling a house.
Basically, their services include radon testing, WETT inspection, thermal imaging, sewer scope inspection, pre-listing inspection, general home inspection, and asbestos sampling.
Their radon testing service is pretty cool, especially since not all home inspectors offer this. You see, radon is odourless, so you won’t know if you’ve been exposed.
It’s also worth noting they offer sewer scope inspection, which is super handy. Their state-of-the-art equipment can see the pipes, which helps avoid drain problems in the future.
You’ll get a licensed and certified expert with your home inspection who has 80 hours of training both inside and outside the classroom. They were also trained to provide clear and detailed reports, which is awesome because you’ll easily understand the notes.
It’s just unfortunate that they seem to have some communication problems. Clients we spoke to have mentioned looking for better aftersales support—but maybe these were just bad days since they don’t happen often.
Lastly, these folks are available for home inspection any day of the week. So, all in all, they’re a pretty good pick if you ask us, especially since their prices are pretty fair.
