Pros
- Trains all dog breeds and sizes
- Highly personalized courses
- Provides immediate progress
- Highly experienced and knowledgeable
- Excellent in handling reactive dogs
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Slightly pricier than others
What we like most about ProK9 Winnipeg is that they take quality over quantity to heart in training dogs and tailoring the session to you and your dog.
We’re impressed that when they do one-on-one sessions with your dog, they can quickly figure out what motivates them. It helps them efficiently address problematic behaviours in just one or two sessions, saving you time and money.
It’s also a plus in our books that they work and train dogs of all breeds and sizes.
And based on our research, they’re good at handling dogs with reactive behaviour. For instance, the instructor successfully gave guidance and steps on controlling the client’s French Mastiff with reactive behaviour toward strangers.
Another thing we found fascinating is that they can actually make progress right after the first session, and that’s saying something when you’ve got all sorts of dog personalities in the mix. Some clients have seen their once-aggressive dogs do a complete 180 in just half an hour.
But just a heads up, their rates can be slightly higher than their competitors, given their highly personalized approach.
Nonetheless, ProK9 Winnipeg is a great dog training center if you prefer that one-on-one session made just for you and your pup.

Pros
- Has a large team
- Offers private training sessions
- Has an online booking system
- Provides noticeable improvements after first session
- Provides useful feedback to work on at home
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Actual training rates starts $140
Dumbledogs Inc. has a large team of dog instructors who work together to tackle different skills and training sessions for your dogs. Some of the skills they teach include basic and leash manners, recall games, scenting foundations, K9 magic tricks and more.
It’s worth mentioning that most clients have observed noticeable improvements in their dogs after the first session — whether they’re relatively calm or anxious dogs.
From what we’ve seen, you can take your anxious pup to one of their sessions and be pleasantly surprised by the progress they can achieve.
However, we learned that their actual training rates usually start at $140, which involves classes that run for five weeks. For us, this limits the flexibility of their sessions, especially if you’re the type who’s free this day but not the next.
Luckily, you can opt for their private sessions for one-on-one training personalized to you and your dog. But note that you’ll have to shell out $100+GST within the facility or $125+GST at your home or park for an hour of training.
Still, we have to give Dumbledogs props for providing clients with helpful feedback and instructions, which they could work on themselves at home to continue the training outside the facility.

Pros
- Available 24/7
- Excellent in trust and focus building
- Provides comprehensive lessons and practical tips
- Has an excellent track record
Cons
- Pricier than others
- Mostly provides in-home sessions
- Sometimes takes your dog for over a week
Who’s A Good Dog Winnipeg specializes in using up-to-date science-based positive reinforcement training to work on dogs of all breeds and ages.
We appreciate that they offer in-depth lessons and down-to-earth advice on interacting and dealing with your dog. From handling your pup’s anxieties to retraining your reactions to having a blast together even with distractions around you, they’ll help you!
We’re also impressed at the instructor’s expertise with new dogs and behavioural dog training. To give you an idea, they thoroughly assess each puppy’s personality and unique needs to integrate into the tailored training program.
On that note, most sessions are held at home, so it’s best to plot a suitable schedule to accommodate your pup’s training.
Also, we learned that they sometimes take your dog from you and personally train them for at least a week. Though there are regular updates and videos, we think being away from your fur baby for that long can make some owners anxious.
Fortunately, they’re available 24/7 and are highly responsive, so you can shoot them a message asking for updates or tips on how to continue working with your dog by yourself.
Lastly, we learned that Who’s A Good Dog has quite an impressive track record in meeting clients’ goals, whether you’re a new dog owner or a pawrent trying to manage eight dogs.

Pros
- Provides group and private training sessions
- Offers complimentary assessments
- Has large outdoor and indoor facilities
- Offers a range of services
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Can improve communication
- Can improve in providing individual feedback
Wooftopia Dog Training and Recreation Centre has impressive facilities, like a massive 3000 sq. ft. indoor playground and a 4000 sq. ft. outdoor play area.
Plus, they’ve got a spacious grooming, training, and retail zone — covering all your pup’s needs!
Another thing we like is that they have a strong focus on training, building good behaviour and creating a positive human-dog relationship. Whether it’s their structured day camp, individual training, in-home training or obedience classes, they make it a point to provide holistic results.
That said, you can choose to go for a group or a private training session. From our research, both have been quite successful at developing new skills and socializing with other dogs.
However, we noted some reports regarding their lack of communication, particularly with booking confirmations or inquiries that are left unanswered.
In addition, several clients we’ve spoken to have mentioned times when the instructor doesn’t provide individual feedback during group sessions. You’ll probably have to go to the instructor before leaving the class to get some tips or feedback.
Other than that, we believe that Wooftopia is your new home base for your dog’s mental and physical well-being — an all-in-one, safe and caring facility.

Pros
- Great with puppy obedience and socialization
- Provides group and private sessions
- Offers in-home training
- Has an online registration system
Cons
- Slightly pricier than competitors
- Can improve assistance during group sessions
The main thing about Training Loyal Companions is their expertise in puppy obedience and socialization classes. It’s a good idea to teach them young, eh?
We’re pleased by their efficiency in providing life skills training for your puppy, such as sit, down, stand, stay and recall training. Impulse control and self-control exercises such as sitting for meal feedings or waiting at the door are also skills that’ll save you from cleaning a mess in the future.
Conveniently, you can go to their website and register your dog for a training session after a few clicks. Just prepare the necessary documents like vaccination certificates.
As for their rates, we noticed they’re a bit on the higher end, considering a three-class group session will cost you $94.50, and a one-hour in-home training will set you back at $141.75.
And speaking of group sessions, we’re quite iffy regarding complaints from clients claiming that the instructors and team lack assistance in managing fussy dogs. For instance, a puppy can just suddenly lunge towards your dog, and you’re all on your own to do something about it.
Despite that, we commend Training Loyal Companions for having the expertise in instilling your puppy with the right skills and behaviour, making life easier in the long run.
