That said, we like their flexibility on pricing, ensuring you can find a pricing option that suits your budget. You can choose from rates ranging from $12 for group classes and $40-$45 for a 55-minute session.

We also think it’s worth mentioning that Ted Motyka provides wedding preparation dances. With prices starting at $20 for a 35-minute session and $40 for a 55-minute session, these classes offer couples a chance to learn dazzling moves!

However, we found one caveat: Ted Motyka Dance Studio is available for classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only. We think this limited availability might be challenging for individuals with busy schedules.

Next on our list is Kickit Dance Studio, one of the dance havens in Winnipeg. With an array of dance styles, spacious studios, and a team of talented instructors, we think it’s worth exploring what this studio has to offer.

Kickit takes pride in offering nine different types of dance classes for aspiring dancers aged six and above. From elegant pointe to gravity-defying acrobatics, from soulful lyrical to high-energy hip-hop, we’re glad there’s a dance style here to suit every taste.

Also, Kickit has a dance class for boys—a sight we don’t see often from other studios. Besides its uniqueness, this aspect deserves more praise because it provides a welcoming and inclusive space for male dancers.

Another thing we love about them is their awesome facilities. They boast not one, not two, but three dancing studios with high ceilings, with ample room to move and groove! Plus, they’re conveniently located near a bus stop, and ample parking space is available.

As for their sessions, we think the Saturday classes are a godsend for those with busy weekday schedules. Although they’re closed on Sundays, it’s still a thoughtful touch that caters to individuals juggling work, school, and other commitments.

From what we’ve seen regarding their instructors, Kickit Dance Studio has a dance dream team at your service. With 24 instructors on board, you’ll be exposed to various teaching styles and perspectives, which is nothing short of impressive.

However, Kickit Dance Studio’s rate of $555 for a one-hour class is pricey. We think this may be a consideration for budget-conscious students.

With a range of dance styles, accessibility, and thoughtful features, Shelley Shearer School of Dance is one of the great places in Winnipeg to find your rhythm. 

Here, you’ll discover a world of dance waiting for you. We absolutely love that they have six diverse types of dance classes, including ballet, musical theatre, contemporary, and hip hop, there’s something to suit every dance enthusiast.

And for those who prefer a more intimate dance experience, we believe Shelley Shearer is a great choice. Their limited class sizes mean you won’t have to worry about dancing in a crowded room, which we like because it allows students to have more focus.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, we’re glad to say that you’ll fit in at Shelley Shearer. With their different levels of dance classes, you’ll be placed in a cluster that matches your skill level and experience.

But it’s a letdown that Shelly Shearer is unavailable on Fridays. While this might be a slight inconvenience for those with Friday availability, it’s essential to note that the rest of the week offers plenty of opportunities to dance and learn.

On the positive side, Shelly Shearer offers free parking (plus ample slots), taking the hassle out of finding a parking spot and making your dance journey even smoother. They’re also located near several bus stops, so you won’t have a problem if you’re commuting!

First and foremost, we’d like to note that we’re really glad that inclusivity is at the forefront at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. 

We’d like to highlight the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s “explorability” program—an initiative designed for differently-abled adults, such as those with Parkinson’s. We think this approach to dance is a testament to their dedication to making dance inclusive.

And for those with a passion for ballet, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet offers an intensive training program. We consider it an incredible opportunity for serious ballet dancers to hone their technique and skills.

While it may be unexpected since they’re mainly a ballet school, they offer both basic and advanced classes for adults! With this, every dancer, regardless of their skill level, has the opportunity to embrace the art of dance.

We’re also glad to see that they have seven different types of dance classes, including modern, lyrical, jazz, and, of course, ballet. Having these options at your disposal helps you discover the one that resonates with your soul.

Another aspect that impressed us is Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s exceptional facilities. From relaxation spaces to an expanded food service program, they’ve thoughtfully created an environment where students and professional trainees can thrive and feel at home.

Their location’s not so bad, either, since they’re near bus stops. There’s also ample parking space in the venue, making it easy to access your classes without the hassle of transportation logistics.

But, it’s a letdown that there’s heavy traffic around the studio’s location on Graham Ave. and Edmonton St. While traffic congestion may pose some inconvenience, we think it’s a small trade-off for what the Royal Winnipeg Ballet offers.

Nevertheless, for those with hectic weekday schedules, we’re glad the Royal Winnipeg Ballet has you covered with weekend classes. This flexibility ensures you have more options to enjoy dancing, even on the weekends.
