The 5 Best Asbestos Removal Services in Winnipeg
It was only in 2018 that Canada banned the use of asbestos, a hazardous material that poses health risks. So, now, it can still be found in buildings and insulation, particularly in older structures built before 1990 because it was used in construction materials.
Asbestos, when disturbed during renovations and demolition, can cause significant health problems. Before planning a major renovation, make sure to hire a professional to check if there’s asbestos.
Look no further as we review the top asbestos removal services in Winnipeg to keep you and your family safe.

Pros
- Offers a wide range of services
- Uses the latest technology
- Provides air quality services
- Has emergency services
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Some complaints about cleaning services
One of our favourite aspects of Advanced Environmental Services is their decades of experience. They have been in the environmental industry for over 30 years!
It also helps that they’re a family business. For us, that shows their asbestos knowledge and awareness in the area.
Their coverage area really impressed us. Not only do they cater to residential and commercial clients in Winnipeg, but they also serve other cities in Manitoba!
Additionally, we really like their wide range of services. Besides asbestos removal, they offer mould removal, duct and vent cleaning, dry ice blasting, and building cleanup! It’s a one-stop shop!
Moreover, we were pleasantly surprised at their comprehensive asbestos services. They also assess and test the indoor air quality and have moisture control services.
Plus, we were pleased to discover that they use cutting-edge technology in their operations. We appreciate their use of a 3-stage air filtration system to purify the air while removing hazardous materials.
What’s even better, Advanced Environmental Services provide 24-hour emergency services for asbestos abatement! If you think you’ve been exposed, you can call them anytime!
Keep in mind that their regular work hours are closed on weekends. So, you need to book other services from Monday to Friday only.
Another drawback we found is the subpar quality of some of their services, particularly in cleaning. On a good note, the clients we talked with saw a significant improvement from the team.

Pros
- Uses eco-friendly solutions
- Wide coverage area
- Offers financing options
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Some reports about missed areas
Breathe Easy Eco Solutions has an environmentally friendly approach, which we approve of! That way, no harmful chemicals will hurt you and your family.
Moreover, we appreciate their commitment to using environmentally safe products and treatment methods rather than resorting to harmful alternatives that could linger on the property. They earn extra points for this!
Another aspect we like is their service area, which includes Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwest Ontario. Sometimes, they even cater to other areas outside their usual range.
However, we need to slash off some points for availability since they’re closed on weekends. The good thing is they have an after-hour answering service—no inspection, though!
Notably, they offer flexible financing options up to $100,000. There are installment options, which we think are helpful for clients with limited budgets.
Their quick response is worth noting as well. Some of their clients got appointments within days after the initial call!
Additionally, we appreciate them for providing their clients with tips on improving indoor air quality—a major concern with the presence of asbestos. Their friendliness and professionalism were praised, too!
Although we heard positive feedback on service quality from most clients we surveyed, a few complaints were raised about missed areas. That was disheartening to hear.

Pros
- Highly accessible
- Services small and large properties
- Has a discretion policy
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- No asbestos removal in other branches
Power Vac has been around for a long time since 1966! That’s almost 60 years in service—impressive!
They started off as a duct cleaning company, but we were glad they expanded. Now, they conveniently offer asbestos abatement services!
There’s a negative aspect we found, sadly. Since Power Vac branches are independently owned and operated, not all locations will have asbestos removal services.
One of the factors we like is they are a highly accessible company, with multiple branches in different cities, including Toronto, Brampton, Hamilton, Mississauga, and Kitchener-Waterloo—aside from Winnipeg, of course!
In addition, their asbestos removal is available for residential, commercial, industrial, and government offices. We appreciate that they cater to small and large jobs!
However, they’re unavailable for weekend appointments. For us, this puts a limitation on their availability.
Another distinguishing factor is their commitment to a discreet policy. We admire the team for guaranteeing the privacy of their clients.
Looking on the bright side, the Power Vac Winnipeg team provided great customer service through their professionalism and responsiveness—two qualities we admire! They were also very thorough, earning points in our book!
We don’t want to forget to mention their thorough service. We especially like how they leave the property spotless, which we believe shows respect to their clients.

Pros
- Consumer Choice Award winner
- Trusted by environmental consultants
- Fast booking response
Cons
- Limited selection of services
- Closed on weekends
River City Environmental is an award-winning company in Winnipeg, which definitely impressed our team. They won the Consumer Choice Award in Winnipeg for Business Excellence twice!
We also like their services (albeit a bit limited than others), including demolition and mould removal—which sometimes go together with asbestos in older structures. Those are aside from abatement and removal of asbestos, of course!
Their clientele is pretty extensive, a positive aspect as many people can hire them. They cater to residential, commercial, industrial, and environmental firms.
In fact, they have impressively been hired by numerous environmental consultants for their expertise in asbestos (and mould!) services. We find it important to mention this high level of trust because it shows their work and service quality!
Another aspect we appreciate is their responsiveness. Their clients even mentioned how fast River City Environmental booked their appointments, sometimes in less than 48 hours—a definite plus in our book!
Additionally, they were really informative and patient in explaining the situation and the asbestos removal process. More qualities we appreciate!
Unfortunately, their downside lies in their availability because they don’t accept appointments on Saturdays and Sundays. They make up for it for their long operating hours, though, which is until eight in the evening!

Pros
- Open daily
- Has emergency services
- Offers a wide range of services
- Has restoration facilities
Cons
- Some complaints about unresponsiveness
- Issues of inaccurate turnaround times and rates
Priority Restoration mainly focuses on restoration services for residential and commercial clients. Their expertise extends to biohazard cleanups. But the best part? Their facility!
Furthermore, we like that they have a restoration facility in Winnipeg (and Brandon!) with complete abatement equipment. Their large property allows them to handle many large-capacity jobs, which is impressive!
Another factor we like is their wide range of services. They offer environmental services (for asbestos and mould removal) and biohazard and trauma cleanup services—these also go hand-in-hand, especially for older homes and buildings.
We were surprised (in a good way!) that Priority Restoration is the preferred contractor of over 30 insurance companies. In our opinion, that highly speaks about their service quality.
Notably, they offer 24/7 emergency services aside from being open every day, which is really convenient for clients. They are responsive, too, which is important for emergencies!
Additionally, we commend them for their communication skills—a compliment they received from our client surveys. We like how they keep clients informed throughout the job, ensuring they know the whole process.
However, several clients expressed dissatisfaction with their delayed responses during peak periods. There were also cases of inaccurate turnaround times and estimates, which we think could have been prevented with better organization.
