Pros
- Offers full services
- Has a wide coverage area
- Designs different types of buildings
- Makes sustainable designs
Cons
- Lack of an updated portfolio
Russell Architect was before known as Streamline Designers. They started in 2004, and we appreciate their expansion, now offering full services.
Their services include design, planning, and project management. We like that you can go to them for any architectural consulting assistance!
Plus, we like their focus on sustainability and energy use. We approve how they can design buildings that won’t have too much of a negative impact on the environment.
It’s also impressive that they have designed different building types, which we think shows their expertise in the field. They have worked on residences, agricultural buildings, temples, educational institutions, and universities.

Besides that, we think their list of clients is quite incredible. It includes the University of Winnipeg, the Government of Manitoba, Sussex Realty, and River Crest Inn.
On top of that, we like that they accept clients from outside of Winnipeg. They cater to the surrounding cities, western Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Nunavut!
Their professionalism is unmatched, in our opinion. Despite being a busy architectural firm in Winnipeg, we admire that they are still proactive in communicating with clients outside the city.
Furthermore, clients of Russell Architect have complimented their competitive pricing. They were transparent about the expenses and stayed within the budget! We approve!
Still, we think they could add an updated portfolio—the ones they show are from before their rebranding! We believe an update could benefit their potential clients looking for architects in Winnipeg.

Pros
- Has a wide coverage area
- Sustainability advocate
- Has a diverse team
Cons
- Not for small projects
- Doesn’t focus on single-residential homes
ft3 has over four decades of experience, which we definitely think gives them an edge! They opened in 1975!
They don’t stick to Winnipeg alone, which we believe also adds to their experience. It’s because of their design and planning knowledge for different areas and weather!
Moreover, they practice in Manitoba, Ontario, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. Whew! That’s a vast coverage!
Additionally, they specialize in multi-family housing, corporate, and health and wellness structures. The downside, however, is they don’t focus on detached homes for residential clients.
On the bright side, we find it impressive that they can work on large projects. Some of their projects are the RCMP Cadet Dormitories, Ronald McDonald House, BDO Winnipeg, and Seven Oaks General Hospital.
We don’t want to forget to mention that they have interior design services. That’s useful for adding an aesthetic touch to the project!
One of the things ft3 is proud of is their diverse team of architects and interior designers, composed of different nationalities. We agree! Why? It gives them many cultural views to include in their designs and plans.
Also, their sustainability advocacy starts in their office by recycling and using local materials, earning them points in our book! The sustainable and innovative upgrades they make are admirable, and they incorporate them into their projects.
Overall, we think ft3 is one of the best architectural firms in Winnipeg. Their limitation just lies in not catering to smaller projects.

Pros
- Has a wide coverage area
- Award-winning company
- Focuses on sustainability
- Has many LEED-certified projects
Cons
- Doesn’t focus on single-residential homes
- Not for small projects
LM Architectural Group was founded around 1954. That’s almost 70 years in the industry, an incredible feat!
Their coverage area is quite large, catering to other regions in Canada. Also, we appreciate the solid foundation they established in Manitoba.
LM Architectural Group is an award-winning firm, which is outstanding! Their design of the Patent 5 Distillery Tasting Room won the Grand Jury Prize Award in the 2019 Commerce Design Winnipeg Awards.
Furthermore, they designed the Bill and Helen Norrie Library, which won Silver at the 2022 masi Design Awards. Impressively, they have even more awards!
One of our favourites is they prioritize sustainability in their planning and design. They have over 15 projects that are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, a green building program.
Additionally, we like that they prioritize low-carbon emissions in their architectural designs. They make sure there’s good indoor air quality and tonnes of natural light!
In fact, their Bill and Helen Norrie Library project also won the 2023 Institutional Small Category by the Canadian Green Building Awards. Call us impressed again!
Even better, they work on different types of buildings, from dormitories to business centres. But don’t expect them to work on single residential homes or small shops, which is a drawback for us.
Finally, we were glad that they offer interior design services. LM Architectural Group is like a one-stop shop, just not for small projects.

Pros
- Sustainability advocate
- Specializes in innovative designs
- Has a wide service area
Cons
- Doesn’t specialize in single detached homes
Amphora Architecture Inc. has been in the business since 2013. Its founder, Vasili Mattheos, has vast experience in large-scale projects, such as London’s Wood Wharf towers and New York’s Manhattan West.
What we like is that they cater to Canada’s private and public sectors. In particular, they serve clients from the Canadian Prairies.
Conveniently, their architects offer virtual consultations for clients outside of Winnipeg. There’s no need to fly to Manitoba to work with them!
Additionally, we commend them for offering interior design. You can bundle that up with their architectural services, like a one-stop destination!
Frankly, we were delighted with their portfolio. They incorporate modern and sleek designs with lots of natural light—creative!
Furthermore, we like their convenient building permit assistance. As a result, there won’t be too many headaches for you!
Also, their focus on creating innovative spaces is commendable. We admire their emphasis on designing good work environments through sustainability!
Moreover, they use a passive solar design that effectively reduces energy consumption. Add to that their renewable energy technologies and you’ll be friendly to the environment!
As much as we like Amphora Architecture Inc., we were pretty bummed that they don’t really specialize in small projects. If you’re looking for an architect for your dream home, you may need to look elsewhere.

Pros
- Has two locations in Canada
- Award-winning company
- Focuses on sustainability
- NCIDQ certified interior designers
Cons
- Doesn’t specialize in single homes
Number TEN Architectural Group has two locations, in Winnipeg and Victoria. For us, that shows their accessibility to Canadians.
From our research, we found that they work on commercial, educational, not-for-profit, and multi-residential buildings. Just not for single residential homes and small shops since they don’t specialize in those.
On the upside, they’re an award-winning architectural firm. Their Legacy Park Elementary School design in Saskatchewan won them the 2023 A4LE Pinnacle Award.
Additionally, they earned the 2023 Canada Green Building Council’s New Construction Award in Green Building Excellence. It was for their RRC Polytechnic Manitou a bi Bii daziigae project.
One of the main aspects we like about their architectural designs is sustainability. Notably, they promote environmental innovations by adding open spaces and functionality.
Plus, we commend them for prioritizing local materials and services to reduce their environmental footprint. That supports local communities as well, which we find admirable!
Number TEN’s interior design team is worth highlighting. They are NCIDQ certified, meaning they have the skills to design functional and innovative spaces!
Furthermore, we think the team-up of their architects and interior designers is impressive! Their architectural projects are clean, modern, and functional—they are award winners, after all!
Overall, we believe Number TEN Architectural Group is one of the best—that’s why they’re on our list! Their clients even complimented their cooperative team!
