What we love most about Salus in Domino Psychotherapy is how they cover all the bases. Led by Karine Langley, they offer a bunch of services to fit different needs. Whether you need individual therapy, spiritual counselling, or help for your kids, Karine’s got you covered.

From our surveys, she’s great with a wide range of issues like depression, anxiety, addiction, anger management, behavioural problems, family conflicts, grief, and PTSD. Her ability to handle so many different concerns makes her practice a one-stop shop for mental health needs.

We also think it’s advantageous that they provide services in English and French, making it easier for everyone to connect with her. Being bilingual means she can help more people in Ottawa without language barriers.

They operate by appointment only, so no walk-ins if you need something right away. But the good news is that they offer sliding scale payments, adjusting the fees based on your income, which makes therapy more affordable.

Pros

  • Has over 30 years of experience
  • Provides helpful resources
  • Offers sliding scale payments
  • Specializes in multiple services

Cons

  • By appointment basis only

Helps with severe PTSD

“I was diagnosed with severe PTSD such that the flashbacks would cripple me and cause me to experience anew the torture that I underwent in my home country. It was such that I would shake, cry and experience the fear all over again. It was recommended to me that at moments of extreme terror I pray. As a practicing Muslim I found this incredibly helpful.”

Quick noticeable progress for nightmares

“Due to the trauma I experienced in my home country, I was unable to sleep for months and worked at night due to my fear of horrific nightmares. As a result of listening to Dominican Compline before going to sleep, I was astonished to find that within one week my nightmares had greatly diminished and I was able to sleep.”

We found that Ottawa Counselling and Psychotherapy has a flexible schedule. Early birds and night owls can find a convenient time—perfect for anyone with a hectic routine.

Their range of therapies is impressive, from Somatic Experiencing and EMDR to creative approaches like Expressive Arts and Narrative Therapy. That said, they can design accurate treatment plans more efficiently.

If you’re into Mindfulness or prefer the structure of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, you’ll find a great match. Plus, with a big team of therapists, you won’t have to wait long for an appointment.

Just a heads-up, they’re closed on Sundays, so if weekends are your only free time, that might be a bit tricky. Also, they don’t offer sliding scale pricing, which could be tough if you’re on a tight budget.

Still, we have to admit that Ottawa Counselling and Psychotherapy is a solid choice, especially with its wide range of therapies and modalities to explore.

Pros

  • Offers flexible daytime and evening appointments
  • Offers a variety of therapies
  • Has a large team of psychotherapists

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Doesn’t offer sliding scale pricing

After chatting with some patients, we can say that Rise Anxiety & Depression Psychology Clinic is really dedicated to helping those with anxiety.

They’ve got a solid track record, with people noticing improvements within just a week. This is incredibly encouraging if you’re struggling and need to see progress fast.

It’s good to know that their services cover all ages—from kids and teens to adults and couples. So, whether you’re looking for help for yourself, your child, or your relationship, you’ll find the support you need here.

On the downside, the cost of individual sessions can be on the higher side, starting at around $184. This might be a bit steep for some, especially without the option for sliding scale pricing.

Despite that, we have to give them props for their stellar track record with noticeable results. Plus, they offer free 15-minute consultations, which is great for getting a feel for the clinic and seeing if it’s a good fit.

Pros

  • Offers free 15-minute consultations
  • Works with all ages
  • Offers same-day and next-day appointments
  • Has an excellent track record in helping anxiety patients

Cons

  • Slightly pricey individual sessions
  • Doesn’t offer sliding scale pricing

Catharsis Counseling & Psychotherapy is a solid pick if you’re part of a minority community. They mainly work with BIPOC individuals, immigrants, refugees, women, and the LGBTQ+ community.

With their diverse team of clinicians, they create a safe and inclusive environment. Having a therapist who truly understands your background can make a huge difference, and you can feel confident you’ll get personalized and culturally responsive care that meets your needs.

And hats off to them for offering multilingual services, such as English, French, and Haitian Creole. This makes therapy way more accessible if English isn’t your first language.

However, they’re closed on Sundays. They also don’t do direct billing, so you’ll need to handle insurance claims yourself, which might be a bit of a hassle.

Lastly, it’s great that they offer both in-person and online sessions. Telehealth can be a game-changer, letting you get the help you need from the comfort of your home, especially if you have social anxiety or mobility issues.

Pros

  • Primarily work with minorities
  • Offers in-person and online sessions
  • Provides multilingual psychotherapy services

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Doesn’t do direct billing

Compassionate, attentive and insightful

“I can honestly say that Karoline is the most compassionate, attentive, and insightful therapist I’ve ever had. She’s provided me with so much guidance that has helped me through several mental-health challenges this past year, and I’ve consistently left every session feeling better than when I walked in. She’s also been flexible and accommodating with scheduling and communication, which I’m grateful for. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist.”

Gentle and calming approach

“I had a great experience with Nereah Felix of Catharsis. She has a gentle approach that encourages you to calm down, feel your feelings, and she helps you work through them. She helped me process a dramatic time in my life, and I really appreciated that she understood how family dynamics and expectations can vary across time and cultures. Highly recommend her.”

One of the standout features of Dr. Kimberly Sogge’s practice is her use of Third Wave CBT. This goes beyond traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by incorporating mindfulness and acceptance strategies, offering a more holistic approach to addressing the root causes of your challenges.

We also found their website as a great source of info since it’s packed with free materials. These resources are perfect for clients and their families who want to dive deeper into understanding psychological issues and case studies.

But it’s a bummer that Dr. Sogge’s fees are on the pricey side at $295 for individual sessions, which is higher than the typical $150 to $250 range. Plus, there can be a bit of a wait for initial consultations, which might be frustrating if you’re eager to get started.

On the upside, the clinic provides receipts for reimbursement, which is great if you have insurance. Most patients we talked to had good luck getting reimbursed, making the financial side of therapy a bit easier to handle.

Pros

  • Assists with insurance
  • Great integration of Third Wave CBT
  • Provides free resources on their website

Cons

  • Slightly long wait times for consultations
  • Pricier than other clinics
  • Closed on Sundays
