Toronto’s Top 5 Pediatricians: Where Kids’ Health Meets Expert Care

  • Qualifications – We checked the pediatricians' qualifications, board certifications, and experience in pediatrics to make sure they have the expertise required to provide complete care for children.
  • Treatment plan – We assessed how pediatricians tailor their approach to the specific needs of each child, focusing on preventive care and personalized treatment plans.
  • Availability and scheduling – We chose clinics that have flexible hours, can see patients quickly, and make it easy to schedule follow-up appointments for ongoing care.
  • Track record – We chose pediatricians who have a proven track record of helping kids get better and who are known for doing a great job in treating common children's health problems.
  • Patient care – We evaluated how well pediatricians communicate with kids and parents, prioritizing patience, attentiveness, and responsiveness to health-related questions or concerns.
  • Price – We checked if they take insurance and if they offer flexible payment choices.

Finding the right pediatrician in Toronto can feel like hunting for a rare gem. It’s not just about someone who can treat a cold; you need a pro who can handle a tantrum with the finesse of a circus performer.

Trust me, as a parent who’s survived everything from midnight fevers to mysterious rashes, I know how important it is to have a pediatrician who makes you feel like you’re not alone in this wild parenting journey.

Whether it’s dealing with a cranky toddler or navigating the endless cycle of sniffles and coughs, you want someone who really understands. So, get ready to meet some of Toronto’s top pediatricians—where the waiting rooms are less “why did I even come?” and more “thank goodness we did!”

What we love about Dr. Papadouris is how she really takes her time with each patient. Whether it’s for infants, kids, or teens, she makes sure every concern is heard and addressed.

The parents we’ve talked with have been raving about her for years, and it’s easy to see why. One mentioned that they’ve been bringing their kids to her for over two decades, which speaks volumes about the trust and reliability she’s built with families.

However, there is a slight downside—her clinic is closed on weekends. So, if you need a pediatrician available every day, you might need to look elsewhere for urgent weekend care.

On the bright side, we found their team to be just as amazing. From the moment you walk in, the receptionist is super warm and welcoming, which helps take the edge off, especially for the kids.

Even if you’re a new patient, the staff goes out of their way to ensure you and your little one feel comfortable and have a smooth experience.

Pros

  • Provides excellent care and attention
  • Professional and accommodating team
  • Excellent reputation and track record

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Top-notch pediatrician

“Dr Papadouris is a top notch pediatrician,  probably one of the best in Canada.  She  has looked after my kids for over 20 years ( I have a large family). Her waiting room is usually packed with kids  because people know how good she is. She’ll always fit you in same day if your child is sick. Her medical secretary is very efficient and kind. ”

Roundhouse Pediatrics is a real gem in Toronto, especially when your kid needs quick care. The fact that they offer urgent care services is such a lifesaver.

We like that you can start with a virtual assessment to see if you need to come in for an office visit if your little one has a cough, cold, or rash. It’s convenient, especially when getting out of the house isn’t an option.

Another thing we love about Roundhouse Pediatrics is that they don’t just handle physical issues. They also offer counselling and therapy for things like anxiety, depression, and school challenges, and these services are available to everyone, not just their primary care patients.

Just a heads-up: they’re not taking on new primary care patients for check-ups and vaccinations right now. If you’re after a long-term pediatrician, you might need to look elsewhere.

But hey, they still offer urgent care during the week, and you can book counselling appointments without a referral.

Pros

  • Has urgent care services
  • Great with handling kids
  • Provides counselling and therapy services

Cons

  • Not accepting new patients for primary care services

Kidcrew Medical offers a great range of services beyond just check-ups and vaccinations. If your child needs help with psychiatry, physiotherapy, sports medicine, or sleep therapy, they’ve got it all covered.

The clinic has a massive team of over 50 doctors, each with their own specialty, so there’s usually someone available for whatever you need.

Parents love the flexibility—if your regular pediatrician isn’t around, there’s always another doctor who can step in, which is a big relief when you need to get your child seen quickly.

We also noticed that the clinic is very kid-friendly. They even have a clubhouse area where kids can chill out before their appointment, and parents get plenty of comfy space to wait, making the whole visit a lot easier.

But it’s a bit of a bummer that walk-ins can be tricky here; the clinic is often too busy, so it’s better to book an appointment to avoid having to find another place or go home.

Still, we can’t deny that Kidcrew Medical in Toronto is like a one-stop shop for all things pediatric.

Pros

  • Has many child-related medical services
  • Large team of doctors and specializations
  • Excellent clinic facilities

Cons

  • Walk-ins aren’t advisable
  • Has a late/cancellation fee

Cool and clean clinic

“When our kids get sick, we get worried and overwhelmed. Kidcrew makes it easier for us to get access to the help we need- from booking appointments, answering inquiries, follow ups. Their doctors are the best- friendly, comforting and are very thorough, and as parents, that’s what we want for our kids. And can I just mention how cool their clinics are?! It’s bright and colorful and clean. If I was a kid, I’d be excited to be there.”

Desiree Mae Roxas, Google Review

Excellent virtual appointments

“Kidcrew, honestly if there are more than five stars I would like to give them, during my encounter with kidcrew I had very good experience with them. The Dr whom I was referring to was extraordinarily Dr.Brent Williams eventhough it was virtual appointment. He explained things clearly to me and sent me requisition multiple time for me to do lab test for my son. Because he cares, he also makes sure my son was well taken care of before depart from our family. The customer service was fantastic too. They answers email and voice massages quickly and return call back and reply emails. I recommended kidcrew.”

Bloorkids in Toronto is a great option if you want a clinic with a wide range of services. They handle everything from general pediatrics to specialized care like allergies, behavioural health, cardiology, and travel medicine, so you won’t have to jump around to different clinics.

One of the best things about Bloorkids is their telehealth consultations. You can easily book virtual appointments online and even pick the doctor you want for follow-ups, which is a huge plus when you’ve got a lot going on and can’t always make it to the clinic.

However, Bloorkids doesn’t accept cash, which can be a hassle if you prefer paying that way. Also, they’re closed on weekends, so you’ll need to plan ahead if your child needs care outside of weekday hours.

Nonetheless, their facilities are modern and well-equipped, which makes a big difference. Plus, having an in-house pharmacy is super convenient—you can get your prescriptions filled on the spot without any extra stops.

Pros

  • Offers many other services
  • Offers telehealth consultations
  • Excellent facilities and has a pharmacy

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept cash
  • Closed on weekends

Attentive and careful team

“very attentive and careful doctors and nurses… quick service and every appointment and online very practical! provide all vaccinations for your baby”

Lovely and modern clinic

“What a lovely and modern clinic! Definitely exceeded our expectations and the new technology is so unexpected for a doctors office. The check in screen at the entrance is funny because it even tells you if you are late haha (parking was a little difficult to find in the area). They have 18 rooms for patients which means they can see a lot of babies at one time! As for our paediatrician, our initial visit with dr. Jamal was wonderful. She was amazing and even took the time to print some reading material for us! Such a pleasant doctors appointment . Thank you!”

Dr. Janet Star has a real knack for making both parents and kids feel at ease right away. From our surveys, parents love how down-to-earth she is, making it easy to talk through any concerns without feeling rushed or judged.

It’s also worth mentioning that Dr. Star is fantastic with newborns, and first-time parents often rave about how helpful she is during those tricky early months. A real lifesaver when you’re trying to handle the unpredictability of a new baby.

But you might face long wait times. A lot of parents have mentioned that the wait can be pretty lengthy, which can be a bit frustrating, especially with a restless child.

Despite the wait, the care Dr. Star provides is top-notch, considering even parents who’ve moved away still bring their kids to her clinic, showing just how much they trust and believe in her care. It’s not just about getting a check-up; it’s about knowing your child is in good hands.

Pros

  • Friendly and down-to-earth
  • Great with newborns
  • Provides excellent care

Cons

  • Long wait times
  • Closed on weekends

Incredibly knowledgeable and down-to-earth

“Dr.Star is down to earth! She is incredibly knowledgeable and loving towards our baby. Helping us navigate through the challenges of being a first time parent with a new born. Supports you decisions, and offers flexible appointments.”
