Pros

  • No hidden charges
  • Has fair pricing
  • Offers eco-friendly services
  • Phone is available 24/7

Cons

  • Has limited services
  • 24-hour transfers are only within 100km of Edmonton

Pointe West Cremation & Funeral Service made it on our list of the top cremation services in Edmonton because of their transparency and quality of service. Those things are essential, especially for mourning families.

We highly appreciate that they are transparent about their pricing. You won’t get surprised about any hidden charges, which speak about their honesty, in our opinion.

Additionally, they don’t charge extra for rush cremations or transfers made outside regular business hours. Aside from that, you don’t have to worry about extra charges based on weight, unlike other cremation services.

Moreover, they have four cremation packages based on your family or the deceased’s preference. They even have a basic cremation package that doesn’t require you to meet the staff in person.

It’s worth noting that they also offer green burials. It’s an eco-friendly option because it uses biodegradable and non-toxic materials, including urns.

Besides that, they have an in-house florist with expertise in arranging funeral flowers. Honestly, it’s the convenience you get with Pointe West that we really like.

One of the most important factors is the compassion and professionalism of the staff. We’re glad that their previous clients have had positive experiences with Pointe West.

A slight drawback is they only accept 24-hour transfers within 100km of the Greater Edmonton Area. On the upside, they’re available on call 24/7 in case of sudden deaths.

Also, Pointe West Cremation & Funeral Service offers limited services than others. But if you’re not looking for something really specific, then this cremation service can offer what you need.

Pros

  • Open 24/7
  • Provides full services
  • Assists in the scattering of ashes
  • Available for a facility tour
  • Has an in-house crematorium

Cons

  • Hand delivery of ashes within 48km only
  • Some past negative experiences

As part of Dignity Memorial’s network, Memories Funeral Home has the ability to provide personalized arrangements to families of the deceased. It has also been in Edmonton since 1994, and we appreciate how long they’ve been serving the city.

It’s also a 24/7 full-service funeral home, which we like. Aside from traditional burials and cremation services, they also offer other assistance for convenience and memories.

Speaking of memories, they offer cremation remembrance jewelry so you can have a portion of the deceased’s ashes with you. It’s a nice service they offer, which we find admirable.

In addition to that, they offer delivery of ashes. This is convenient, but only if you live within 48km of the facility.

Aside from that, we also appreciate that Memories Funeral Home provides assistance for the scattering of ashes. In our opinion, their help can make the process easier for the families.

Another aspect we like is you can witness the cremation because their facility has an in-house crematorium. You can even schedule a tour if you need to check the area first for religious reasons.

We also commend the staff who have shown respect to their clients during a difficult time. Some said that they felt the whole process went smoother than expected because of the full assistance.

However, there were some negative experiences before regarding service quality. The good thing is we’ve seen significant improvement since then, showing that they take complaints seriously.

Pros

  • Provides cost-effective solutions
  • Transparent with the prices
  • Has a Compassion Hotline for loved ones
  • Has a professional and compassionate staff

Cons

  • Limited services
  • Closed on weekends

An affordable cremation service in Edmonton that made it on our list is Cremation Direct. They offer one of the most cost-effective solutions we found in the city.

They’re also a convenient service, which we highly appreciate. They even offer online or in-person process, which we find definitely helps if the families live outside of the city.

Aside from that, they provide 13 months of their Compassion Helpline to anyone who avails of the cremation package. It’s also available 24/7, which we admire since loneliness can creep up any time of the day, sadly.

The clients we surveyed highly appreciated their quality of service. Some had loved ones who passed away in Edmonton, and they didn’t have to worry about the cremation process even if they lived in a different province.

All their prices are available on the Cremation Direct website, which shows transparency, in our opinion. Their urns have reasonable prices as well.

As for the staff’s quality of service, we were glad to have found that they were highly professional and made the arrangements a smooth process. In addition, they showed compassion, which their clients felt even through the phone.

Just don’t expect a tonne of funeral services here since they specialise in cremation. But you can find what you need here if you just need a basic cremation.

They are closed on weekends, though. But they’ve been consistent with providing immediate responses, which is a plus.

Pros

  • Available 24/7
  • Provides full services
  • Offers personalized services
  • Has live streaming services

Cons

  • Expensive rates
  • Reports of hidden charges

We included Trinity Funeral Home as one of our top cremation services in Edmonton because they provide complete services. These can be highly convenient for families and friends preparing the cremation arrangements.

Their simple cremation package is a cost-effective solution that we found. In our opinion, the inclusions are worth the money because they can provide a smooth arrangement.

We also appreciate the customization they provide. It’s especially important for sentimental value because it can help you honour the deceased.

In addition to that, they also sell cremation jewelry to keep some ashes close to you at all times. Not all cremation and funeral services in Edmonton offer this, so we respect this.

Furthermore, they have live streaming services, which we find important these days. Not all relatives and friends can fly out to Edmonton at a moment’s notice, so having the funeral live-streamed allows them to pay their respects.

Frankly, we commend Trinity Funeral Home’s complete services because they can make the whole process smooth for mourning families. You don’t have to worry too much, and that can give you more time to process what you’re going through.

However, their prices are a bit steep compared to other cremation services in the city. We were also disheartened at the hidden charges that some clients reported.

But Trinity Funeral Home is available 24 hours every day. If there’s a sudden death, you can call for their assistance anytime.

Pros

  • Highly accessible
  • Provides full services
  • Open 24 hours
  • Accommodating staff
  • Provides cremation keepsakes

Cons

  • Instances of disorganization
  • Some miscommunication issues

South Side Memorial Chapel is part of Arbor Memorial and is a highly accessible cremation service because they’re available any time of the day.

One of the things we like is they provide pre-planning assistance. They can offer resources so you can make more informed decisions, which can be challenging when there’s a death in the family.

Furthermore, they provide full services from the funeral to cremation. Their chapel can even seat up to 200, allowing your family and friends to pay their respects.

We also commend them because their facility is wheelchair-accessible. The accessibility they give to anyone in Edmonton is definitely worth mentioning.

Additionally, the South Side Memorial Chapel staff are highly accommodating. They can adjust their services for personal or religious reasons, which we admire and respect.

Moreover, they provide keepsakes as a way to honour the memory of the deceased. Some may not find this important, but we do because people grieve in different ways.

After the cremation, the staff can also assist you in working with Arbor Cemetery for the final resting place. In our opinion, this is a very important service for people who have not pre-planned.

It was disappointing to hear complaints about the staff for sometimes being disorganized, though. Also, we heard reports about miscommunication with clients.

Nevertheless, they listen to complaints and take those seriously as a way to grow. These issues haven’t happened a lot lately, which we believe shows that they accept criticisms.
