The Beaconsfield Historic House was built in 1877 for James Peake Jr., a wealthy shipbuilder and merchant. The architecture of the house is simply stunning, with its steep-pitched roof, ornate woodwork, and beautiful stained glass windows. 

As you wander through the rooms, you’ll get a glimpse of what life was like for the upper class in 19th-century PEI, and you’ll be amazed by the attention to detail in every corner. 

But it’s not just the architecture that makes Beaconsfield Historic House worth a visit. The house is now a museum, filled with interesting exhibits and artefacts that tell the story of PEI’s history and the people who lived there.

But the museum isn’t just about potatoes—it also offers a glimpse into the daily life of rural PEI in days gone by. You can visit a replica of a one-room schoolhouse, explore a blacksmith’s shop, and even take a peek inside an old-fashioned general store.
