How We Picked

Process – We assessed companies that have an effective process with their services including duration, resources and network, and travel management.
Customer service – We chose companies that can accommodate clients properly and respectfully.
Licencing and authorisation – It’s important for the company to be licenced and provide the necessary paperwork for every transaction to avoid getting scammed or wasting money.

Pros

  • Serving more than 30 years
  • Offers emergency travel services
  • Offers event management

Cons

  • No online booking
  • Some reports of travel itinerary issues

Boulevard Travel has been providing travel management services for over 30 years, from corporate to leisure and wedding travels.

Their travel agents can design personalised leisure trips based on your destination, vision, and budget to guide you through your weekend getaway or cultural adventure.

You can give them a call or send an email to discuss the planning of your trip. However, it is unfortunate that they don’t have an online booking feature for faster transactions.

We also learned that they offer event management services where their agents coordinate with you to plan out the details of your entire trip. This includes inspection, transportation, catering, accommodation, and scheduling for each guest.

For instance, they were able to get 70 guests out to Costa Rica and were in constant contact with both the client and hotel to ensure everything was going smoothly.

Although, we are a bit concerned about reports of travel itinerary issues, like having plane tickets rebooked without extra luggage, hotel quality concerns, and other booking errors.

In case you get caught up in this situation, you can call them any time since they provide travel emergency services. But we suggest asking for a line that directly contacts your agent for faster responses.

Pros

  • Large team of travel specialists
  • More than 20 years of experience
  • Customised travel plans

Cons

  • No emergency helpline
  • Instant flight bookings aren’t available

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, TierOne Travel Calgary continues to offer vacation and business travel management for groups, families, or solo travellers.

Their expertise mainly focuses on customised travel plans to meet your specific needs and budget.

We are impressed with their large team of travel specialists that are experts on specific travel plans, from simple getaways to arts and culture trips.

Having assigned specialists for different travel experiences allows clients to have better options and deals. You just have to fill out their forms to select a specialist, or you could simply make a phone call.

However, it’s unfortunate that they don’t have online flight bookings since we believe this is useful for clients to look out for cheap flights before they decide to book a specialist.

In terms of being on top of things, they are quick to address any concerns even though they don’t have a 24/7 helpline.

For instance, the assigned specialist was able to resolve a cancelled flight and got the client home on time, even after hours. So rest assured that their specialists are committed to looking after you from your first contact until you return home.

Overall, they’re a solid choice for personalised trips with a strict budget.

Pros

  • Has online booking system
  • Package vacation deals
  • Solo travel deals

Cons

  • Closed Fridays to Sundays
  • No travel emergency line
  • Some complaints on customer service

Marlin Travel is one of the largest retail travel chains in Canada, offering convenient bookings and planning for flights, car rentals, hotels, and cruises for your trips.

For first-timers, you can scan through their package vacation deals for both domestic and international trips. This also helps you search for the best choice that matches your budget.

If you prefer travelling alone, they also have solo travel deals, providing you with a selection of packages, tours, cruises, and tailored itineraries. They have exclusive promos and communication, thanks to their travel affiliates and partners.

Their offices are only open on Mondays to Thursdays, so it may be difficult to do a personal consultation, especially for working clients.

In the meantime, you can search for flights, cruises, car rentals and more through their online booking system, and relay any other concerns to one of their agents through email or phone.

But we did hear some problems regarding their customer service, such as being unresponsive to emails and calls from clients to follow up on their booking status.

We also found out that they don’t have an established travel emergency line, so it’s best to discuss a plan B with your agent for any unexpected issues during your trip.

Pros

  • Open 7 days a week
  • 24/7 helpline
  • Payment plans available
  • Instant flight booking

Cons

  • Slow refund processing
  • Some complaints on poor customer service

Trips Booker Canada offers deals on flight booking for domestic and international destinations along with hotel, cruise, and vacation packages.

You can search and book for the best prices on flights through their online booking after a few clicks.

As for vacation or cruise packages, these are not readily available online, so you’ll have to get in touch with them to discuss your options.

It’s a good thing that they are open 7 days a week since it’ll give some clients a chance to consult about their trip over the weekends.

We also appreciate their 24/7 helpline with agents on standby to help you out during your trip.

However, we heard some complaints about poor customer service, particularly with lack of flight confirmations and being unresponsive with follow-ups.

On a better note, they offer 3- to 24-month easy payment plans to help you proceed with your trip.

A word of caution: for those who need to rebook or cancel their flights or plans due to unexpected reasons, we discovered that their refund processing is slow. Some clients had to wait up to 8 months to get their refund.

Finally, for clients who need extra security for their travels, you can also apply for their travel insurance, and you can also opt for a financing plan to pay off the insurance.

Pros

  • Wide selection of deals
  • Online bookings for different services
  • Over 30 years in the industry
  • Payment plant available

Cons

  • Complaints on customer assistance
  • Some reports of bad reception

For over 30 years, SellOffVacations has been providing Canadians with travel services across North America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe.

They have a vast selection of deals by vacation types, season, destination, and top resorts. You can easily scroll through their page to see the rates and inclusions, which is convenient.

Their last-minute inclusive deals for trips departing in 2 to 4 weeks are also posted, which can help you save up to 50% for each trip while going on a spontaneous adventure.

We also think it’s convenient that they have an all-inclusive online booking system, which includes flights, hotels, and cruises.

If you need help with your travel expenses, you can avail some of the financing options the agency offers, where you can extend your payment up to 24 months.

Considering the number of deals and packages they offer, we appreciate their user-friendly and straightforward website.

However, we’ve heard complaints about their poor customer services and non-accommodating staff, especially with clients encountering booking errors.

There are also reports about clients’ poor experience when enquiring through a phone call. So we advise clients to personally visit their office for better consultation, as mentioned by many previous clients.

Overall, this is a go-to agency for quick transactions and last-minute trips.
