5 Best Private Transportation Companies (PTC) Courses in Toronto
Recently, a friend of mine delved into the ride-hailing app industry as a full-time driver. At first, I was a bit skeptical because I remembered him having a pretty solid paying 9-to-5 job, but when he told me how much he was racking up monthly, it made me want to quit my job as well!
Okay, that last part was a lie. Still, it interested me enough to take a closer look at the process of becoming a driver for these private transportation companies in Toronto—you know, for future reference.
The most important thing I discovered was that you have to find the right private transportation course, and fortunately, there are tons in Toronto. So, if you’re looking to get started on a side hustle or want to try a new job where you won’t have a boss, keep on reading!

DrivePro piqued our attention due to its entirely online program. It’s one of the most convenient options because students can easily access the courses, as well as the final exam, anywhere and at any time.
Although their courses are all done online, we appreciate how the company integrates interactivity with their e-learning program. They did this by combining both animated and real-life driving simulations on the streets of Toronto, which students may encounter in the real world.
We interviewed those who completed their PTC course with DrivePro, and they shared that they completed the course in as little as four hours. They also highlighted how detailed the five-chapter course was, which covered the mandatory vehicle-for-hiring requirements.
Some people just mentioned the tiny hassle of needing to update their Google Chrome since DrivePro’s modules run best on the browser’s latest version.
Pricing-wise, we can’t complain either, as they only charge CAD79 for the whole package. Plus, we appreciate that they’ll only charge additional fees if the student fails for the fifth time.

DRVR Hub is one of the most well-known driver training providers in Canada, having certified over 15,000 drivers in Toronto alone. We’ve also sat down with their passers, who had nothing but praise to share, more particularly, with the instructors.
They highlighted these professionals as passionate, creating a fun and engaging space for students. This program can be completed within a day, yet the students shared how much they learned.
They also offer 100% online and hybrid training, both of which can be completed at the student’s own pace. They can be easily completed within three to five hours, and certification will be issued within 24 hours afterwards.
Our favourite thing about these courses is that learning aids remain accessible to students for up to 12 months after certification.
The only thing they could improve is their customer service, as their channels tend to take a long time to respond at times. Also, although they don’t offer career support upfront, the reputation of DRVR Hub precedes itself.
Engaging and insightful
“I am incredibly grateful for the experience of learning under such an amazing teacher! They have made every class both engaging and insightful.
Their passion for the subject is evident, and they consistently go above and beyond to ensure that each student thoroughly understands the material. Whether it’s through clear explanations, thoughtful feedback, or creating a positive classroom environment, it makes learning enjoyable and meaningful.
I feel more confident and motivated because of their dedication. Highly recommend! Thank you for everything!”

DriveWise Newmarket is widely praised for its blended learning approach to training vehicle-for-hire drivers. We took a closer look and were impressed to discover that they use state-of-the-art virtual reality simulation labs.
The high-tech equipment does a great job at simulating driving for buses, taxis, vans and other passenger vehicles through its 180-degree view monitors. Former students also told us on our interviews that they couldn’t tell much of a difference between the simulation and the real thing.
Furthermore, they offer virtual reality simulations blended with in-class instruction. We also appreciate how they only offer small classes, 15 students per instructor, to be exact, to provide extra personalized attention to each individual. Plus, each enrolment comes with free lunch!
However, the aforementioned pieces of equipment don’t come cheap, so expect to pay a pretty penny if you’re planning on choosing this school. Also, it’s worth noting that the school only offers in-person learning.
Helped me overcome my driving anxiety
“I passed my G2 test with flying colours, all because of Drive Wise’s teachings, but especially my instructor Fida! She helped me overcome my driving anxiety and worked with me to get myself comfortable on the road. She is the best!!”

Extremely informative and fun
“I did the blended course, and it was extremely informative and fun. I will be using the techniques I learned every time I drive. Teachers are kind and supportive. I highly recommend others preparing for their G2 to take this course!”

Globe Driving Academy is great for busy professionals, as it offers an entirely online PTC program that can be completed at the students’ own pace.
However, what impressed us the most was their turnaround time, as our interviewees told us that their certificates were ready in less than a day upon completing the final exam.
Speaking of final exams, we also appreciate how they allow up to two tries before requiring the student to pay an additional fee. Furthermore, we want to commend this school for its reasonable rates, considering how detailed and accessible the courses are.
The only downside here is the lack of in-person learning, which can be problematic for those who prefer hands-on teaching. However, we do appreciate their online facilitators for being personable and keeping the learning experience engaging.
Lastly, our interviewees also highlighted how the facilitators offered extra tips that aren’t typically found in modules but may be experienced in real life.
Very positive experience
“Christian led an incredible review session virtually for the class before taking the final exam. was personable, answered questions, went into detail with examples, and ensured everyone was prepared for the test
Very positive experience overall with the Parachute Vehicle-for-Hire training program. The modules were easy to follow along with, complete online, followed by a great review session!”

AMB Driving School is among the most well-known accredited places to get PTC in Toronto, featuring multiple branches in and outside of The Six. It’s also well-known for offering flexible training courses for vehicle-for-hire, having both in-person and online options.
We surveyed those who chose in-person classes, and we were surprised when they told us that they don’t regret them over the more accessible online option. They told us that the main reasons for this were the fun and engaging instructors.
The same sentiments about the instructors were shared with us by those who opted for the virtual classes.
However, our favourite thing about this school is its extremely convenient self-paced e-learning. It’s one of the best ways to get a PTC certificate without leaving the house—plus, the turnaround time is usually only one to two days.
Our only gripe here is the above-average rates. We’d understand the rates if they only covered the in-person training, but unfortunately, it’s also the same amount with their self-paced learning.
Outstanding driving instructor
“Waqqas Ahmad is an outstanding driving instructor who gave me five classes, each 2 hours long. He made sure I understood each concept before moving forward. Thanks to his clear guidance and patient teaching, I passed my G road test on the first attempt.
His lessons were well-structured and focused on building real confidence on the road. I highly recommend him to anyone preparing for their driving test.”

Made me feel very comfortable and confident
“I took lessons with Nauman for both my G2 and G tests and passed both on my very first attempts.
I was previously an incredibly nervous driver with zero past experience (and started learning in my mid-30s!), but Nauman was very patient and made me feel very comfortable and confident. I truly do not think I could have passed with any other instructor.
I am very grateful and highly recommend him as an instructor.”
