The 5 Best Personal Trainers in Vancouver

The 9 Best Personal Trainers in Vancouver

Working out can be overwhelming, considering you have to figure out a plan to get you to your fitness goals. That’s why getting a personal trainer can save you from going in circles in the gym.

A personal trainer is more than just an instructor that tells you which set is next; they also educate, plan and motivate you throughout your fitness journey. To help you get started, we hand-picked the best personal trainers in Vancouver!

How We Picked

Qualifications – We checked the trainers’ credentials and experience, given that they influence a client’s fitness routine and lifestyle.
Fitness plan – The trainer’s approach to crafting suitable fitness plans for their client’s needs is crucial, so we assessed this aspect.
Availability and scheduling – We chose trainers or gyms that can accommodate their clients on time, have flexible schedules, and handle each client session efficiently.
Track record – We selected personal trainers with a track record of satisfied clients.
Client care – It’s crucial to address clients with proper courtesy and acknowledge any concerns involving their services or clinic.
Price – We listed gyms and trainers with reasonable rates, considering their pricing schemes.

Pros

  • Offers free online consultations
  • Offers online training
  • A skilled and thoughtful trainer
  • Great with first-timers
  • Uses a comprehensive and holistic approach
  • Has free video exercises

Cons

  • Does not offer physiotherapy

TurnFit provides clients with the tools and guidance they need to reach their fitness goals. They offer access to quality workouts, nutrition plans, and expert advice — all customized for you.

We are also impressed with their quality services as they have worked with and helped over 1800 clients.

At the helm of this success is David Turnbull, the founder of TurnFit and one of the personal trainers on the team. He provides a holistic approach combining fitness, mindset, nutrition, movement, and recovery.

David’s experience and skills shine as he works with different clients, from busy professionals to competitive athletes. And each fitness plan or routine faithfully corresponds to their needs and goals.

We also witnessed how he provided a safe and comfortable environment for first-timers — someone who hasn’t stepped foot in a gym.

On top of that, we are pleased with how he asks how much you’re willing to spend so that he can create an effective plan without jeopardizing your goals and wallet. And one of the ways he does this is by incorporating their online training services you can do at home.

However, we noticed that they don’t offer physiotherapy or massage therapy, which could also help clients, especially those who are injured.

Finally, should you consider David or TurnFit for your fitness journey, we suggest you avail of their free online consultation to help you figure out the next best step.

  • Skilled in multiple specialties
  • Friendly and approachable

Cons

  • Some reports of rescheduling issues
  • Does not offer supplements

Precision Athletics has a team of certified personal trainers to provide knowledge, motivation, and support to achieve your goals.

Among their trainers is co-founder Craig Boyd, who has an impressive track record in helping clients. We learned he is highly skilled in multiple specialties, such as Corrective exercise, muscle-building and weight-loss programs.

It’s also a plus that you wouldn’t feel intimidated when you work with him since he’s friendly and approachable. You could comfortably bring up any concerns regarding your lifestyle, diet, or mental health then Craig can help you with these considerations.

Notably, they have many long-term, actually decades-long clients who have had personal training with Precision Athletics or Craig. And this tells us the consistent quality and standard they uphold with every session.

That said, we encourage you to test out their services by booking a free trial for personal training to discuss an initial assessment and allow you to get a feel of how they work.

We also like that their training rates are on their website, and you can see the rates per session depending on the term, trainer level, and weekly frequency.

However, we noted some reports of rescheduling issues, which resulted in confusion and inconvenience to some clients.

Lastly, Precision Athletics has three gym locations, giving you the option to choose the nearest and most convenient one to go to!

  • Available seven days a week
  • Has different membership packages
  • Has excellent attention to detail
  • Classes and facilities are never crowded
  • Has a friendly and supportive environment

Cons

  • Some reports on billing issues

What impresses us about VIP Fitness & Lifestyle is the diverse team of Personal Trainers, Kinesiologists, Group Fitness Instructors, Nutritionists, Life Coaches, Massage Therapists and more. This tells us the range of services they offer with certified experts to back it up.

It’s worth noting that their classes and facilities are never crowded and always clean, so you wouldn’t get that claustrophobic feeling when you’re working out.

Another thing we appreciate is their friendly staff and team, so you can expect them to welcome you once you go through their doors.

That said, Alex Montague is one of the best personal trainers we’ve seen, considering he’s a  certified personal trainer, a fascial stretch therapist and a registered kinesiologist.

From our survey, we noted numerous praises from both existing and new clients. A couple of the most mentioned things were his knowledge of both science and actual exercise and his friendly demeanour.

Furthermore, we realized Alex is a good listener, and his attention to detail is outstanding, especially for those with special conditions or needs.

But, we are a bit concerned after hearing some reports about billing issues, like clients still getting billed for cancelled membership packages or inclusions.

Nevertheless, VIP Fitness and Lifestyle is a great place to kickstart your fitness journey and enjoy a comfortable space and environment.

Pros

  • Provides ultrasound assessments
  • Offers online training
  • Available seven days a week
  • Skilled and thoughtful trainer
  • Personable team and staff

Cons

  • Some reports of upselling

Fit Integrated offers personal training, nutrition, physiotherapy, massage therapy, ultrasound assessment, and more.

One of the things setting them apart from other gyms is their ultrasound assessment. With this technology, they can accurately check your body fat percentage and lean muscle mass to track your progress on your fitness journey.

Fortunately, their personal trainers, like Jan Agovida, can provide the support and routine you need to hit your goals. Jan also utilizes ultrasound technology, allowing you to monitor your progress and the results of your effort.

We also like that he’s thoughtful of requests and concerns to maneuver and create a plan to suit you. For instance, he can work with tight schedules and help athletes prepare for a sports event over the summer.

Admirably, their other staff, trainers, and experts are personable and accommodating. You can ask them anything, and they’ll be happy to help you — even if you think it’s a dumb question!

However, we are a bit iffy about some staff trying to upsell and push memberships or fitness packages to other clients.

Overall, we believe that Fit Integrated is your go-to gym if you want to closely track and monitor your fitness journey with the help of skilled personal trainers.

Pros

  • Offers kickboxing, MMA training, spin classes and yoga
  • Has a good-sized private gym
  • Personal trainer creates a fun environment
  • Provides educational feedback

Cons

  • Slightly pricier than other gyms
  • Some complaints with their promotional challenge

Kalev Fitness Solution has services ranging from Personal training to group fitness classes such as HIIT, CrossFit, Kickboxing and strength training — which we found impressive! Not all gyms can offer the same with certified and experienced trainers.

On that note, among the personal trainers, we think Alochen is one of the best. He has helped clients lose about 4% – 7% of body fat and gain lean muscle in four to six weeks of their fitness program.

We also appreciate Alochen for having the ability to create a fun experience despite the taxing and tiring workout sessions — no need to frown while you execute your lunges!

It’s also worth mentioning that he provides educational feedback on exercise, nutrition, and progress, which makes the entire experience more holistic. So we encourage you to ask as many questions or tips to incorporate it into your lifestyle.

On the downside, we noted multiple complaints about their four and six-week challenge, wherein clients can get their deposit back if they reach the goal set by the gym. Complaints mainly involve having hidden charges to the main deposit if unsuccessful.

Regardless of whether you win or not, most clients were able to lose about 4%-5% of body fat. For us, this shows that they have efficient and well-thought-out fitness programs.
