Right off the bat, we’re impressed by Parkview Family Dental Clinic’s long lineup of in-house dental care, from preventive care to complex restorative, cosmetic, and urgent treatments. You can easily get everything done under one roof.

We’re glad that the clinic is equipped with current dental technology, such as advanced X-rays, since it improves the accuracy of exams and treatment planning.

Their location is accessible by transit and close to many residential and commercial areas as well, since the clinic is situated in Fort York. This can cut down travel time, making regular visits more convenient.

Just note that we came across some reports regarding unreturned calls and follow-up concerns. You’ll probably have to call first thing in the morning to avoid peak hours and busy lines.

On the bright side, they offer 24/7 emergency services for quick turnaround, and in most cases, they can accommodate you within an hour after your call.

Pros

  • Impressive lineup of in-house dental care
  • Uses modern diagnostics tech and techniques
  • Provides 24/7 emergency services
  • Offers direct billing
  • Offers discounts to seniors

Cons

  • Some reports of unresponsiveness

Made me feel so comfortable

“Dr Emilie Vo made me feel so comfortable and always prioritized the long-term health of her patients. Only place where I leave with a couple giggles and feeling better than when I came in. Great staff! Highly recommend her and this clinic to anyone who isn’t feeling confident, nervous about visiting the dentists, or generally unsatisfied with their current dentist.”

Very fast yet precise with procedures

“Parkview is great. Dr. Sindy Ha is by far the best dentist: she is attentive, friendly, and always keeps you informed on the health of your teeth and gums. She offers specific recommondations on how to better care for your teeth and is very fast yet precise with procedures. Her quality of care is unmatched.”

True to its name, Downtown Dental Centre is highly accessible via transit and near major business districts. It’s a big plus for busy professionals who need to drop by for a dental appointment.

That said, we like that they have a comprehensive treatment range, including teeth cleaning, dental implants, invisible braces, oral cancer screening, TMJ-TMD therapy, and even sports and night guards.

It’s also reassuring to know that their in-house periodontist has advanced training, international lecturing experience, and specialization in implant aesthetics and gum health. This improves outcomes for treatments like implants and gum disease management without further referrals.

We do think it’s a bummer that they’re closed on weekends. If your procedure needs more time, it might be tricky for professionals or busy individuals to drop by during their free time.

Nonetheless, Downtown Dental Centre is a reliable dental clinic. Plus, the clinic accepts Canadian Dental Care Plans, so eligible patients can benefit from cost reductions.

Pros

  • Strong specialist expertise
  • Comprehensive treatment range
  • Reliable restorative techniques
  • Accepts Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Fast, friendly, reliable, and professional service

“Fast, friendly, reliable and professional service. I travel a long way for this, have done so for over 20 years, and it is well worth it.”

Brian Power, Google Review

Everyone is extremely kind

“Best dental clinic I’ve ever been to. Everyone is extremely kind, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. Can’t see myself ever going anywhere else. Never thought I’d say this, but thanks to the entire staff I actually look forward to my visits.”

What we like most about Atlas Dental is that it’s open seven days a week, from early morning until late evening, which is uncommon compared to others on this list and across Toronto. It’s much easier to book appointments around work, school, or emergencies.

On top of that, the clinic is directly connected to one of the city’s busiest subway hubs, so you can get here with ease, especially if you don’t have a car.

We also love that they offer highly personalized treatment plans. The patients we spoke with shared that they felt heard and that their appointments weren’t rushed.

Another thing worth mentioning is that besides their general and emergency care, they also offer holistic dentistry and advanced cosmetic options, such as zirconia veneers and implants.

The hitch? If it’s not an emergency, you’ll have to secure an appointment since they don’t accept walk-ins.

On the other hand, they do accept CDCP, helping lower out-of-pocket costs for patients without private insurance.

Pros

  • Open 7 days a week
  • Wide range of services
  • Offers free virtual consultations
  • Reliable transit access
  • Accepts CDCP

Cons

  • Some reports of unresponsiveness
  • No walk-in availability

Extremely efficient

“Dr Nguy has pulled two of my teeth ( at different times). The procedure was relatively painless and extremely efficient both times and the healing process was very quick. He is also very personable and took the trouble to touch base with me to see how I was doing the day after the extraction has done! Highly recommended!”

It’s neat how St George Dental is situated on College Street, directly across the University of Toronto campus. Students and downtown residents won’t have much trouble getting to and from here, which is handy if you need regular visits or follow-ups.

Speaking of students, we love that the clinic highlights affordable care and participates in student programs like the University of Toronto dental plan. Having student-friendly pricing and insurance compatibility goes a long way.

And it’s great that they offer everything from routine cleaning and exams to cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, and dental surgery, without needing referrals. You can even opt for laughing gas sedation if you feel nervous going into certain procedures.

But we feel a bit iffy after coming across reports about slow responsiveness, especially with follow-up concerns. And they’re prone to getting busy during academic periods.

The silver lining? They accept same-day emergency cases for quick relief, preventing further complications and unexpected dental issues.

Pros

  • Full-service dental care
  • Accessible location
  • Student-friendly options
  • Accept same-day emergency cases

Cons

  • Can improve currency of addressing concerns
  • No walk-ins allowed

Staff was super friendly

“I recently visited St.George Dental for a cleaning. The staff was super friendly, the place and equipment was extremely clean and I truly enjoyed my visit. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a dentist.”

The first thing we noticed about Harbour Dental Centre is that they have designated parking for patients within the building, which is rare for many downtown clinics. This is a game-changer, especially if you’re driving in from outside downtown.

As for their services, we’re glad that they cover basic and advanced dental procedures and treatments. Think implants, Invisalign, surgical procedures, and more.

One of the things that also caught our attention is that they offer IV sedation for patients undergoing more invasive treatments, or if you’re someone who struggles with dental anxiety. It definitely makes longer procedures much more manageable.

Here’s the thing, though: we noted some frustrations regarding payment issues, mainly from misunderstandings or a lack of a clear breakdown. You’ll probably have to discuss this as soon as your initial consultation to avoid surprise fees later on.

Still, we can’t deny that Harbour Dental Centre is a strong pick if you need full-service dental care in a modern and high-end clinic.

Pros

  • Modern clinic and facilities
  • Comprehensive dental services
  • Offers IV sedation
  • Has designated parking

Cons

  • Some reports of payment issues
  • Can improve urgency of addressing concerns

So accommodating, welcoming, and genuinely helpful

“The staff are absolutely amazing—so accommodating, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. I truly appreciate the excellent service and would highly recommend them to my friends and families.”

Very honest and knowledgeable

“Love Harbour Dental! Dr. Ali is very honest and knowledgeable in his practice. Kat is an amazing hygienist and the front desk is very efficient. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you!!!”
