Affordable Burials & Cremations Inc. is a family-owned business in Toronto that has been around for over half a century. It’s owned by a family of funeral directors, which gave us the confidence that they can provide proper service.

They offer cremation, aquamation, and burial. We appreciate the tailored services for each client because they can meet the specific needs of the deceased’s loved ones.

They also ship cremated remains in case the family lives outside of Toronto. It’s also convenient that they have a full staff who will coordinate with the cemetery and perform other necessary procedures.

However, we think it’s unfortunate that they don’t provide witness cremation. Nonetheless, we trust their reputation, communication skills, and strict processes to ensure you get your loved one’s remains.

Lastly, their affordable prices stand out the most. A direct cremation only starts at $1795, way less than others we visited.

Pros

  • Affordable prices
  • Owned by a family of funeral directors
  • Offers tailored services

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer witness cremation

Efficient and hassle-free process

“The ABC team was exceptionally professional, helpful, and compassionate throughout the entire process, significantly easing a difficult time. Everything was handled promptly and efficiently. The paperwork and next steps were clearly explained and meticulously organized, making the process much more manageable. This service truly offers excellent value for its impeccable quality. Special thanks to Fatima for her unwavering support.”

No-frills service

“I am very grateful for the professionalism of ABC. We gave them very little lead-time, but they were able to handle everything graciously and with compassion. We did not want a great deal of fuss and drama around the arrangements, which made ABC a perfect choice for us, but we did appreciate their help with the paperwork involved in a death. I highly recommend ABC.”

eco Cremation & Burial Services is not your typical traditional funeral home. Here, they provide unique and budget-friendly services to make the cremation less stressful for grieving families.

They’re all about streamlining the cremation by offering virtual services to the GTA, but in-person appointments are still available in their Mississauga office.

It’s worth highlighting that they offer eco-friendly services by using environmentally regulated crematories and biodegradable urns.

They offer basic and tailored cremation services, which we appreciate because they give families a choice of how they want the cremation to go. There are all-inclusive plans as well, which we like because they simplify the service.

They’re the cremation service to go to, budget-wise. Their Spring Maple Essential Cremation starts at only $2499 and additional services are reasonably priced as well.

They’re available 24/7, like most cremation services. The only issue we have is you can only text them during regular hours on weekdays.

Pros

  • Eco-friendly services and urns
  • Virtual appointments available
  • Prices are reasonable
  • Offers all-inclusive plans

Cons

  • Text messaging is not 24/7

“eco Cremation & Burial Services made end of life arrangements very easy for my family. They provided so much information that they literally answered all my questions before I even had the chance to ask them.”

Great to work with

“My uncle recently passed away and Eco Cremation & Burial Services were kind and helpful transporting the body from the hospital and taking care of him until he was transported for cremation.  Lisa was great to work with and very patient. At such a sad time it’s nice to deal with people who care.”

Established in the 1920s, Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home stands out because of their longevity in the industry and convenient services. You can hire them for everything you need to make the whole process smoother.

We also like how accessible they are on Danforth Avenue, making the funeral easy for loved ones to go to.

Another aspect we like is the variety of their services, which include cremation, funeral, ritual washing, and event planning. While they charge an additional fee for scattering assistance, we appreciate the convenience of this service.

They also offer personalized services so you can choose how the service will go based on your preferences. If you want to choose a plan for convenience, their cremation package includes taking care of the necessary documents.

However, their prices are more expensive, with the cremation starting at $3560. It’s a lot higher than others, especially since it will vary depending on the add-ons.

Finally, from our surveys, we were glad to find that many respondents were pleased with how their team remained compassionate and effective throughout, which is very helpful when coping with grief.

Pros

  • Established in the 1920s
  • Accessible location
  • Offers personalized services

Cons

  • Prices are higher

No-pressure service

“My family has been trusting Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home for as long as I can remember. My Grandparents, Aunt & Uncle and my own Father had their services here. The staff are phenomenal. There is absolutely no pressure. They walk you through everything and are still there for you afterwards. I will only trust future family arrangements with them. If you have any questions or need their services, reach out to SarahAshley McGrath. She is more than you could ask for during a difficult time.”

Goes above and beyond

“I’ve had a few friends hold funeral’s here. Sarah Ashely and her team goe over the top to ensure they meet your expectations in any way possible. A passing is never easy and the support or help this team gives is truly a blessing.”

The main reason Eirene Cremations stood out in our books is because they’re eco-conscious. For every family that chooses them, they will plant trees in memory of the loved one—so meaningful, right?

We noticed that they made the arrangements simple and easy for the families because they handled everything so efficiently that there was no fuss. Past clients mentioned working with them was not stressful, which we appreciate.

They make things easy by offering an all-inclusive plan for cremation called the Essential Package. This already includes transportation to their facility, hand delivery of cremated remains, and service from a licensed funeral director.

However, we were saddened that this didn’t include witness cremation. Actually, we found that their Ontario facility doesn’t offer the Witnessing Package.

On a positive note, their all-inclusive package is reasonably priced at $2700 plus tax. They even offer installment plans to lessen the burden of the cost.

Their services are also easily arranged via phone or online. And we were glad that you could feel their compassion without meeting them personally through their empathetic responses and support.

Pros

  • Eco-conscious service
  • Provides an all-inclusive plan
  • Reasonably priced
  • Installment plans are available

Cons

  • No cremation witness in Ontario

Went the extra mile

“Eirene Cremations were there for me during the most difficult time of my life. They were trustworthy, professional, compassionate, and went above and beyond to make me feel supported after the passing of my beloved mother.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that anyone in need of their services put their trust and loved ones in the safe hands of Eirene Cremations.”

Kat Smith, Google Review

Overall efficient service

“I recently lost my father and needed to find a place to cremate him fairly quickly as his death was unexpected.

I found Eirene online and had a great experience with them. Jennifer and the staff were companionate while being professional and efficient. They were available at all times to answer any questions , set me up with an online task program for helping settle estate matters and made me feel comfortable with my choices.

Rebecca bought my father’s ashes to my home and even said she  could come back at a later date to make personal vials for family scatterings.

I would definitely recommend their services as they made a difficult time for me fairly effortless.

Thank you again to the whole team at Eirene.”

Since 1995, Delmoro Funeral Home has continued to provide reliable funeral and cremation services to the North York area. They built an open-concept two-storey facility to accommodate up to 150 guests.

We like that they offer personalized services through their add-ons. It’s also convenient they provide packages that include filing and securing paperwork to make the process less stressful.

As for their services, they offer cremation and will basically arrange everything for the funeral.

Plus, their cremation package includes handling the necessary paperwork and hand delivery of the ashes. This lessens the burden on the families, which is something we appreciate.

We also appreciate how they check in on the family to make sure they’re well-informed every step of the way. Based on our surveys, the staff always picked up the phone and took time to listen to stories, which was very considerate.

But the hiccup is their services are expensive, starting at $3900 for cremation. But we appreciate that there are no hidden fees.

Pros

  • Open-concept facility
  • Provides package plans
  • Offers add-ons

Cons

  • Expensive packages

Overall wonderful job

“I highly recommend Delmoro. The staff was very compassionate, knowledgeable and there was no pressure or upselling.  We were provided various options and they guided us through every step of the way, including the very important aftercare appointment. Whenever I had questions, someone always got back to me with the answer in a timely manner. Amanda made me feel like family and I was pleased to have her take care of my mother. She did such a wonderful job!”

Organizes the arrangements

“The people who work here are very kind and thoughtful. Everyone was very thorough in taking care of all the details of the clothes, flowers and photos. They reached out to the church and cemetery. The surroundings are peaceful and well organized.  The driver and the pall bearers are respectful. We are very pleased with the results. We would recommend this home very highly.

We thank them fom the bottom of our hearts for making this painful time more comfortable. All was well done.”
